About

Dina Campbell is a native Islander who left Lewis in 1977 to study drawing and painting at Edinburgh College of art. In the spring of 2023 she returned to the island to live and work full-time and has set up her new studio in Habost, near Port of Ness.

Throughout her career, she has been represented by a number of galleries across central Scotland, the Highlands and the Isle of Lewis.

Semi-abstract and expressive in style, her work is bold and often large scale, however smaller works are available. The paintings she produces are characterised by fluid gestural marks, exciting use of colour and an energy that conveys a love of her chosen medium.

Inspiration and influence come from botanical studies, organic forms, landscape but also from Chinese calligraphy, Sumi-e, poetry and jazz.

“As a place to work and be creative, the island is inevitably bringing new aspects to my practice and process. It is important to me as a painter, to always experiment explore and develop new ideas.”

As this is a working space rather than a gallery/shop, prearranged visits are preferable but not always essential. Do call in if passing and catch a glimpse of work in progress!
