About

The Calanais Visitors Centre is preparing for exciting redevelopment and the café is closed.  Limited facilities in the form of a food trailer, small shop and toilets are being provided, as possible, through to the end of October 2024.  Please check our website www.calanais.org for opening times and note there are no services after 5pm or on Sundays.

Urras nan Tursachan (the Standing Stones Trust) set up the Calanais Visitor Centre, and it was first opened to the public 30 June 1995. The main aim for the Visitor Centre is to educate visitors on the story of the world famous Callanish Standing Stones. As one of the main attractions on the island, the Standing Stones attract an estimated 150,000 people a year.  We look forward to providing much improved services in the future as we redevelop the centre to deal with increasing visitor numbers.  Thank you for your patience while the redevelopment is in progress.  We will be posting updates on the redevelopment on ouer website www.calanais.org and on facebook www.facebook.com/CalanaisStandingStones.
